our story
Building community resilience through training, prevention, emergency response, and ordinary people stepping up when it matters most.
THE EARLY DAYS
where it started
LifeFirst started in 2014 with one simple goal: teaching ordinary people how to save lives.
What began as small CPR and First Aid training sessions to help fund medical studies slowly grew into something much bigger than expected.
Over time, LifeFirst evolved into a grassroots community initiative focused not only on training but also on emergency response, disaster support, community resilience, and practical action during times of crisis.
Based in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape, LifeFirst now supports local emergency response efforts through community training, volunteer firefighter development, flood support, fire operations, and emergency preparedness initiatives.
how we’ve grown
Since 2025, LifeFirst has:
Opened a dedicated training centre in Port Alfred
Trained almost 100 people in First Aid and Fire Fighting
Supported response efforts during four major fire incidents across the region
Assisted with flood response operations during severe weather
Responded to numerous medical emergencies within the community
Partnered with Frontier Fire Assist to establish a volunteer firefighter satellite unit in Port Alfred
where we’re headed
Our vision is to continue building practical, community-driven emergency response capacity within small towns and rural communities where resources are often limited.
Through training, prevention, volunteer development, fundraising initiatives, and community partnerships, we aim to create stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.
“Because when emergencies happen, communities matter.”
help us make a difference
Whether through donations, volunteering, sponsorships, or partnerships — every bit of support helps strengthen emergency response, disaster preparedness, and community resilience within our communities.
